Happy Easter

One last Easter card to share with you. I love that little Riley in the egg (although my 4 yr old always tells me "moose do not come out of eggs" every time he sees it ). I hadn't gotten to play with it much and since Easter is tomorrow, I had to make one more card with it. I stamped Riley three times on white cardstock and colored them with copic markers. I didn't worry about matching with patterned paper and just went with nice Eastery colors. Then, I sewed the image panel to a piece of brown cardstock. I picked out a ribbon and added it to my card base. Then, I pop dotted up the image panel. I used an Easter sentiment from Papertrey's Limitless Labels stamp set as well as the Easter Egg stamp set to finish off my card. Hope everyone has a great Easter tomorrow!!

Recipe
Stamps: Eggshell Riley (Hanna Stamps), Limitless Labels (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: white Stamper's Select (Papertrey Ink), brown (SU!)
Ink: graphite black (Brilliance), miscellaneous SU! inks
Accents: ribbon

Tools: copic markers, sewing machine

Easter Treats

Remember those cute little carrot candy holders I found at Dollar Tree? You can see them in my Bunny Treat Box. I used another one to make a cute and easy treat to give someone. I stamped a bunny from the Hanna Stamps Spring Time stamp set. I love that little bunny! I colored my image with copic markers and then cut it into the shape of a tag. I matted the tag and punched a hole and added an eyelet. Last, I tied my tag around the top of the carrot with a piece of ribbon. A quick and easy treat. I'll be back later with one more Easter card. Have a great morning!

Just Hatched Egg Box

I created this egg box to enter in the Papertrey Guest Star Stamper contest. I came up with the idea to alter the box with basket weaving (dang, that takes a long time!). I started out by painting box yellow. Then, I figured out my measurements that I needed for an even weave and cut out all the strips. Then, I started by basket weaving the bottom and attaching it to my box. Then, I continued up over the sides of the box. I added a ribbon around the box to cover the tops of the paper strips and included a bow on the front.
Here is a close up of the top of the box. I made a basket weave rectangle for the top and matted it with aqua mist cardstock. Once I had it on the lid, I created my label using the Just Hatched stamp set. First, I stamped the label in aqua mist ink and cut it out. I made the two mats using nestability dies. I added paper piercing on the scallops and brads. Then, I attached everything to the lid (label is pop dotted up).

Here you can see the inside of my Just Hatched box. I found these adorable duck and chick candles at Dollar Tree. They fit perfectly in the egg holder insert. To finish the interior, I stamped aqua mist cardstock with polka dots and lined the sides. Then, I added the candles and the paper strips. (I got a bag of these at the local grocery store.) I love how it turned out, but all the weaving took forever!

Recipe
Stamps: Just Hatched, Polka Dot Basics (Papertrey Ink)
Cardstock: aqua mist, white Stamper's Select (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Everyday Blessings (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: aqua mist (Papertrey Ink)
Accents: ribbon (Papertrey Ink), brads, candles (Dollar Tree), nest material
Tools: paint (Making Memories), nestabilities (Spellbinders)

Mom

I made this card to enter in the Papertrey Ink Guest Star Stamper contest using last month's releases. I created the patterned paper by stamping Polka Dot Basics first on white cardstock. Then, I added a flower from Little Lady in the centers of each of the circles. I stamped the outline from one of the stamps in Just Hatched and used the Trajan Monogram set to add the word 'Mom' to the middle. I cut out my oval and added a mat using an oval nestability die. Then, I added ribbon to my card and the sentiment. The sentiment is pop dotted up. I cut out more flowers from Little Lady, added dew drops, and pop dotted them up as well. Then, I made the inside liner and stamped more flowers in the corner. I like how it turned out. Simple and classic. I'm hoping to get some scrapbooking done today. I haven't made any pages in a while and I miss it.

Three More Rileys

This card shows a sneak peek of two more Riley stamps coming out this week. I used both of the camping Rileys. I stamped and colored the moose and then doodled in some grass to connect the two images and colored the grass. I stitched the image mat and the patterned paper to my card base. Then, I stamped my sentiment on a piece of white cardstock, cut it out, and added it to my card. Last, I added some dew drops in the corners. I love how you can use these two images together for more options on your cards.

For my second card, I wanted to do something very simple. So, I stamped and colored my image (adding a sidewalk under the tires to ground the image). I added a piece of patterned paper and ribbon to my card base. Then, I added my image with dimensional adhesive. Last, I stamped my sentiment. Love this sentiment and it goes with the simplicity of my card so well!

Nestability Die Tip

Today's tip is a tip for using your nestability dies. Sometimes, I cut out my shape first and then stamp my image onto the shape. Other times, I stamp and color my image first and that can make it a pain to cut out my image just right. So, what I do is place the die over my image like I want it and hold it in place with a piece of tape. Place the tape on the die and off onto the part of your paper that will be scrap after your shape is cut out. Don't get the tape on your image. After your shape is cut, it will pop right out of the die and the tape comes off the die easily as well. Hope someone finds this tip useful. I'll be back in a few minutes with more Riley sneak peeks.

Cake Riley

Quite a few people have asked me when these new Rileys and Sophies are coming out. There is no official release party like last week with the Hannas. Kristi plans to put them up in the store this week some time. She wanted to get them up in time for you to still be able to take advantage of the 10% off discount. So watch the store because they will be up soon!

Cake anyone? Riley is bringing out the cake today. I wanted to make a card that could be used for a wedding or a birthday. I started by coloring Riley. Then, I decided to use the Afternoon Tea papers from the SU! mini. I matted the image and sewed the layers together. Then, I created my card base from groovy guava cardstock and added the ribbon and patterned papers. I stamped my sentiment onto the patterned paper and went over it with a glitter pen to make it sparkly. I also added glitter to the pink parts of the cake. Last, I added my image to the card and put dew drops in the corners.

Here you can see a close up of the glitter I added to the cake.I'll be back with 2 or 3 more cards later, but I need to get photos of them first. Have a great morning!

Tropical Riley

Riley looks so adorable resting in his hammock on a hot tropical day, don't you think? I think this is one of my favorites of the new Rileys! Do you have a favorite yet? To create the sand look below Riley, I doodled some sand and then colored it with a brown copic marker. Then, I took a colorless blender marker and removed some color. I love how it makes it look like sand. This is just a quick post since I've already posted 2 cards today, I'm running out of babble!

Hula Sophie

Another of the new stamps releasing this week from Hanna Stamps is this little Sophie. The new summer line is so fun! I love this little hulaing Sophie stamp! After all the moose coloring I have done this weekend, I need to refill my brown and blue copic markers, but they are so much fun to color! I stamped my Sophie with Brilliance black graphite ink and colored her with copic markers. I doodles a line for the sand and colored it with a brown copic marker. Then, I took a blender pen and went over the brown to take some of the color away. It makes it look a lot like sand. I love SU!'s new Bali Breeze line of patterned paper and you will be seeing it on quite a few of my summer Riley and Sophie cards. This card uses SCS sketch 164 for the layout.

OMGoodness!

I am in shock! I won the Papertrey Guest Star Stamper contest for Best Use of Patterned Paper! (insert shocked emoticon here because I don't have one) The entries are always so amazing that I never figured I had a chance to actually win. Between Hanna Stamps and Papertrey Ink, I have had an amazingly blessed month and I am very thankful to both of them!

Bet you're tired of be blabbering on so on to the card deets.

I really wanted to come up with something with the patterned paper and Beautiful Blooms. I created the card base using Aqua Mist cardstock. I stamped the flowers on white stamper's select cardstock using aqua mist ink and cut them out. Then, I cut a mat using nestabilities dies. I punched circles out of the patterned paper for the flower centers. I pop dotted the flowers up for more dimension. Then, I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and added the dotted border (Borders and Corners Rectangles). I punched holes using Making Memories slot tool and threaded the spring moss twill through it. Assembled everything and it was done. I had a blast at the Papertrey release party and can't wait to try their new paper, ink, and ribbon colors and to use some of those stamps. Now, just have to stalk the UPS man.

Patterned Paper: Everyday Blessings
Stamps: Just Hatched, Beautiful Blooms, Borders and Corners Rectangle
Accents: Spring Moss twill
Tools: nestabilities, Making Memories punch tool, circle punch

Bunny Treat Box

Today, I'm sharing one of the egg boxes I entered in the Papertrey Ink Guest Star Stamper contest. These boxes were a lot of fun to alter. I started by painting my box blue. I did not have an exact shade of blue that matched so I settled for a coordinating shade. Next I measured the 12x12 Everyday Blessings paper to fit around my box (I used two strips to get all the way around my box). Before I adhered it to my box, I cut some white paper as a scalloped border and sewed the pieces together. Then, I adhered the paper to the box. Next, I worked on the lid. I cut a piece of patterned paper for the top and matted it with a piece of white paper cut with scalloped scissors. I sewed the pieces together and added them to my lid. Next up the bow. Before I made the bow, I cut the strips out of the aqua mist and the spring moss patterned paper and made my own double sided paper. I followed this tutorial on SCS to make the bow. I've made my own bows before without the tutorial, but the tutorial makes it quick and easy.

To finish off the inside of my box, I turned the chipboard insert over and traced the circles on the back of my patterned paper. Then, I cut the circles out with my craft knife and modpodged the patterned paper to the chipboard. After it dried, I sanded the edges. I found these great carrot candy holders (hence the name Bunny treat box) at the Dollar Tree. They fit perfectly! I put them under the chipboard insert to make it look like they were still in the ground. Papertrey's release is new tonight! Can't wait to try the new papers, ribbon, and inks in those two shades of pink and to see the new sets! See you at the release party!

Keep Your Head Up

I can't believe it is already Day 3 of sneak peeks for the new Hanna Stamps coming out the 14th! I had to go out of town yesterday and was gone all day so I didn't get to work on my sneak peeks for the other two stamp sets. I promise I will get some done today, but I do have another sneak peek of the Large Breeds stamp set to share. I just love this doggie laying in his bed. He looks like he might be a little down, though, so I thought this sentiment from the Things Hanna Would Say stamp set would be perfect. First, I stamped and then colored my image using copic markers. I stamped the image again on my patterned paper. The beauty of clear stamps is that you can see where you are stamping. I was able to stamp the image just right on my patterned paper so that I stamped over part of the flower with the dog's bandanna around his neck. Then, I cut out just the bandanna and added it to the dog's neck. Then, I cut it out using a square nestability die. I matted the square with purely pomegranate and a cream cardstock and stitched the image and the patterned paper to my card using my sewing machine. The patterned paper is by My Mind's Eye. Last, I added dew drops, a flower, and a button (it's a clear button with a piece of purely pomegranate cardstock behind it to make it coordinate). I will get to stamping this morning and have more sneaks peeks of the other two sets asap. Have a great day!

Doggie treats

Morning, Everyone! Busy day ahead, but I couldn't wait to share my sneak peek of the new Hanna Stamps coming out. Today, I have a cute little doggie treat canister and a card to share. Both of these stamps are from the Large Breeds and My Best Friend stamp sets that Hanna Stamps is releasing the 14th. I used a 6 inch tea tin to create the dog treat canister. First, I stamped my patterned paper using the dog treat stamp found in My Best Friend. I matted the patterned paper on cardstock and adhered it to my tin. For the ribbon, I wanted the look of a collar so I added a silver brad every inch on the ribbon before I tied it to my canister. I stamped the image of my dog and colored it with copic markers. I added some grass using a copic multiliner pen. The sentiment is from the My Best Friend stamp set. Then, I cut my image in the shape of a tag, matted it, and added it to my canister. Now, on to the card. I started by stamping and coloring my dog first. Love that St Benard! Then, I random stamped the dog treat stamp again for my patterned paper. I used the ticket corner punch on all the corners, matted everything, and added brads. I stamped the dog treat stamp again on white paper and colored it with a copic marker. Then, I cut it out and dangled it from my ribbon when I added it to my card. Check out the design team blogs for more great sneak peeks!

Have a tail wagging day!

Hanna Stamps has a treat for all you dog lovers out there! They are releasing 3 new sets with dogs (and two more sets besides). This card features the My Best Friend and Small Breeds stamps sets (you can click on the photo to see the details of the stamps a little closer). Isn't Hanna such a cutie?! I stamped Hanna and her doggie first. Then, I stamped some flowers and grass along their feet and made a path for them to be walking along using my copic multiliner pen. I also added some extra grass with my pen. Then, I colored my image panel using copic markers. Speaking of copic markers, Kristi announced yesterday that Hanna Stamps will be carrying copics in their own exclusive color palettes. You can read all about them by clicking on the link (blue words are the links). Be sure to stop by all the design team blogs to check out their sneak peeks. You're going to love the new sets!

labeling sponge daubers

If you're like me, you have a ton of these sponge daubers! At first, I tried washing them out. Nope. Then, I tried guessing the colors, but you can't always tell what color the ink is by what color it turns the sponge dauber. For instance, Toile Pink is no where near that bright. So, finally dawned on me to start labeling them. I just snip a small rectangle out of scraps and right the name on the ink color on it. Then, tape it on. Simple. Not rocket science, but maybe it will help someone out there get a little more organized with their supplies.
