Party Favors

Edited to Add: I just found out this morning that I got an Honorable Mention in the Papertrey Guest Star Stamper contest for these party favors! Wahoo! I'm always so excited and honored when Nichole chooses one of my creations since she is my stamping/card making hero! Be sure to check out all the honorable mentions and the winners. There were some really amazing entries!

When I was coming up with projects for the Papertrey Guest Star Stamper contest, I was really on a birthday kick! I guess it is because we're having a party this weekend. Anyway, this was another of my creations. I made these little party favors. They were super easy to make, too.

I found these paper mache boxes at my local craft store. They are 3 inches across. Perfect for party favors and they were just $1. I bet they would be cheaper at a larger chain craft store, too, but I don't have any thing like that around here. First, I painted them white with regular acrylic paint and let them dry.

After the paint was dry, I covered the edges with patterned paper from the Pink Pattern collection. I used a punch for the top of the circle cake. Then, I made holes in the tops of the cakes with a paper piercer and a file. I rolled up some of the polka dot paper to make candles and put them in the holes I made on top of the cakes. I rolled some yellow ribbon to make the flames for the candles. Then, I added some liquid applique around the candles and the edges of the cake and heated it with my heat gun to make
it puffy. I think it looks so much like decorative frosting.

They were really very quick and easy to make and I think they turned out pretty cute. I used two candles since my daughter just turned 2 yesterday, but you could easily alter the idea for weddings, too. They would look so cute with a little mini couple on top!

Have a great day!

Recipe
Patterned Paper: Pink Patterns (Papertrey Ink)
Other: yellow ribbon, paper mache boxes
Tools: acrylic paint (Making Memories), liquid applique, file, paper piercer
