Just Hatched Egg Box

I created this egg box to enter in the Papertrey Guest Star Stamper contest. I came up with the idea to alter the box with basket weaving (dang, that takes a long time!). I started out by painting box yellow. Then, I figured out my measurements that I needed for an even weave and cut out all the strips. Then, I started by basket weaving the bottom and attaching it to my box. Then, I continued up over the sides of the box. I added a ribbon around the box to cover the tops of the paper strips and included a bow on the front.
Here is a close up of the top of the box. I made a basket weave rectangle for the top and matted it with aqua mist cardstock. Once I had it on the lid, I created my label using the Just Hatched stamp set. First, I stamped the label in aqua mist ink and cut it out. I made the two mats using nestability dies. I added paper piercing on the scallops and brads. Then, I attached everything to the lid (label is pop dotted up).

Here you can see the inside of my Just Hatched box. I found these adorable duck and chick candles at Dollar Tree. They fit perfectly in the egg holder insert. To finish the interior, I stamped aqua mist cardstock with polka dots and lined the sides. Then, I added the candles and the paper strips. (I got a bag of these at the local grocery store.) I love how it turned out, but all the weaving took forever!
